Flagz Mas Band

The Notting Hill Carnival is the largest street festival in Europe and was started by the Afro-Caribbean communities to celebrate their own cultures and traditions over 50 years ago. Calypso and SOCA music is at the heart of the Carnival, something it shares with Flagz Radio. A natural marriage ensued when a team of like-minded young vibrant SOCA and Carnival lovers decided to pool together their talents and Flagz Mas Band was born.

Flagz Mas Band took to the streets of Notting Hill Carnival Parade in 2007 and immediately attracted a large following of energetic carnival enthusiasts. It instantly created a reputation for being a safe, fun and well organised band and was awarded the Challenge Shield Award for Best Medium Size Band of the Year in 2009. A title they retained in 2010 and won in 2011 and 2016.

They took part in the London New Year’s Day Parade for the first time in 2013, and again in 2014. Also appearing at Manchester Carnival 2016 and 2017.

Flagz Mas Band continues to grow from strength to strength doing workshops with local communities, schools, and supporting and appearing at local carnivals and festivals, namely The Wandsworth Fringe Festival and Thornton Heath Festival.

It has integrated revellers from all parts of the world and of all ages as it continues to spread the fun and enjoyment of Caribbean culture to the masses.
